The Arboretum Trust

Kew at Castle Howard

Guided Tours

Lovely place to walk the dog!  – but which tree does he prefer?  (There are over 5000 trees in the Arboretum representing over 1500 species)

Can’t see the wood for the trees?   Come and learn about the uses of different woods in the Furniture Makers Walk.

Like the views?  Find out more about the people behind the planting and their ideas about landscape design.

What was there before the Arboretum?   See some clues to the medieval deer park, and to Vanbrugh’s grand design for “improving” it.

You’ll hear about all these and much more on one of our tours led by our trained guides

Tours include:

  1. a walk (taking about 11/2 hours) round the short Tree Trail stopping at several points of interest (other routes available on request)
  2. information on the history and geography of the original park; the story of the founding of the “Arb”; tree identification; educational and other projects
  3. your questions answered
  4. visit our café serving home-made treats from local ingredients

Tours take place normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Normal admissions apply, there is no additional charge for the guided tour.
