	The Curator of the Trust, John Simmons, OBE, VMH presents Mavis Jarvis with a gift from the Arboretum volunteers. Mavis, who has been at Castle Howard for almost 25 years, came as James Russell's secretary when he began to establish the Arboretum. When he retired, she continued with the Arboretum Trust recording, on a database, all of his collecting and cultivation notes. The resulting database is what distinguishes our collection. It was this database of plant records, which interested the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in our collection
