The Arboretum Trust

Kew at Castle Howard

New Buggy

Following are some quotes from the sponsors of our new mobility buggy.
Leeds Building Society

"The Trustees supported the work of the Arboretum Trust as they were very impressed with the Charity, the services they have on offer and the work they do in the Community. For example, they have an Outdoor Education Programme which provides activities for schools and community groups. However, it was the facilities they provide for disabled people to access the Arboretum which was of particular interest and it was for this purpose that the Trustees donated £1,000 towards a mobility vehicle. This will enable visitors who are wheelchair bound to enjoy all of the areas of the Arboretum which they previously would not have been able to access."

CPP

"CPP is really pleased to be supporting the mobility project planned for Castle Howard's Arboretum Trust. The purchase of the mobility vehicles will not only mean the collections in the Arboretum are accessible for all but will continue to attract visitors to the Arboretum for many years to come. CPP is committed to supporting the local community and its environment and is proud to support such an important local project."

Howardian Hills AONB

The Howardian Hills AONB awarded a grant of £2000 towards the cost of the mobility buggy through its Sustainable Development Fund. On hearing that the old vehicles were out of action and beyond repair it seemed essential to us that an appropriate replacement be found to enable whole family groups to experience the Arboretum and its Howardian Hills setting together.
The vehicle will also make it possible for school children with limited mobility to benefit from learning alongside their classmates in the stimulating environment that the Arboretum offers.
The vehicle that has been selected by the staff and volunteers at the Arboretum is perfect – it can handle the undulating terrain and variable surfaces, has GPS for added user confidence and is also extremely quiet.
We hope that the buggy will facilitate enjoyable outings for a wide range of visitors for several years to come.
