Adventures with the Woodland Fairy: Especially for Nursery and Reception Groups. Half or full day adventures with the Woodland Fairy! Outdoor learning with a magical twist developed through a Creative Partnership with EYFS teachers to inspire and enthuse your children.
Amazing Art: From collecting materials for simple collages and sculptures to A Level projects, the arboretum provides inspiration a plenty and we offer a wide range of creative activities.
Amazing Autumn: Seed Hunt and Autumn Story Trail - Discover the life cycle of a tree and seed dispersal mechanisms while hunting out seeds and following our Seasonal Story Trail.
Amazing Autumn: Autumn Colour Collection and Colour Change Game - Collect and take away all the colours of autumn and find out why the leaves change colour.
Bird Watching: Use binoculars or hide in our bird observatory to watch and identify some of the Arboretums more active inhabitants.
Colour Collection: Make your own colour palette from spring and summer wildflowers or amazing autumn leaves
Decomposer Detectives: The hands on activities based in our new compost area include: What Can I Compost?, Soil Soup, The Heap As A Habitat, Compost Creature Relay and Lunch Box Challenge.
Explorienteering: An introduction to orienteering and map reading in our fully enclosed 150 acre arboretum. Short exercises and a mini course to test out your new skills. Large course also available for more experiend orineteers.
Lumberjack Challenge: Can your team be the best at measuring and recording the vital statistics of some of our 6000 trees.
Meet a Tree: Get up close and personal with some of our largest residents. This activity will really test your senses!
Minibeast Hunt & Habitat Creation: Go on a bug hunt, use our bug dials for identification and explore the creatures habitats before creating one your own.
Pond Dipping: Explore and identify the creatures living beneath the water of our spectacular lake.
Seasonal Story Trail: Find the seasonal adjectives hidden amongst the tress and create your own story or poem.
Story Sticks: It is said that the Aborignal people collected items onto their walking sticks to remind them of their route on long journeys, in the Arboretum children can collect items onto their own story stick, to help them remember their day and to use for writing stories back at school.
Unnature Trail: Can you spot unnatural objects in the forest as you wind your way along our unnature trail?
Walking With Woodlice: Part of our Gifted and Talented Programme, students take part in a woodlice survey and learn to identify some of the species common to the Arboretum. |
