Education Programme - Volunteer Education Explainers

New recruits are needed to join the enthusiastic team of Education Explainers to lead tours and deliver activities to schools visiting the arboretum.

Experience in Art, Education for Sustainable Development or Citizenship and at secondary level in Biology and Geography would be an advantage.

This position is suitable for those who are available on a flexible and casual basis, part time teachers or those who have recently retired.

The work is occasional and we are particularly busy from April to July.

Confirmation of the above appointment will be subject to successful candidates obtaining an acceptable enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

As well as positions as Education Explainers we currently have several specific projects available for volunteers to get involved in. Training and guidance will be provided but we encourage volunteers to take some ownership of their individual project. The aim of each project is to develop a new education resource to be used in hands on activities for school groups.

Available projects include:-
- Development of a composting regime at the arboretum
- Development of a large leaf and flower pressing system to preserve samples for art/craft activities.

For more information on any of the above or to arrange a visit please contact Katherine, Education Development Officer, on education@kewatch.co.uk or (01653) 648598.
