The Long Tree Trail is a pleasant walk of about 4 kilometers and normally
takes about one and a half hours to two hours to complete.
All trees on this walk
are identified by plaques with a red number on a white background.
The trees you see represent just a small fraction of the thousands of different
taxa within the arboretum, but they do show the global spread of our
collection.
The Americas are represented by trees from as far south as Tierra del Fuego in
Chile, through Mexico to Oregon in the USA.
From Australia there is the endangered Omio Gum tree that has produced many
seedlings here.
Asia is represented by trees from as far east as Japan, through China and the
Himalayas to Iran.
From the Mediterranean region we have trees from Spain, Crete and Turkey.
Finally from the UK. there is the rarely seen British whitebeam – Sorbus devoniensis
