A panel set into the left hand wall shows a straw bale as it was before rendering.

The building was constructed by Ryedale Conservation of Terrington, York (who provided their work on a non-profit basis), in conjunction with Arboretum staff and a host of willing volunteers.

The plaque above the panel lists those who participated in the construction. They are: - Neil, Ken, Rod, Henry, Bill, Peter, John, Roseanne, Duncan, David, Brian, Colin, Wilf and Bob.

In keeping with the environmentally sound nature of the construction even the door has been reclaimed.
